David grew up in Milton, a small suburb of Toronto, but spent a lot of time staying with relatives in the Bahamas. His early interest was in rock music and he played with a band in high school. A teacher encouraged his acting talent, and he went on to graduate from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute. After 2 years with a Shakespearean company in Stratford, Ontario, he got a breakthrough role in a Canadian tv series called 'Street Legal'. Moving on to Hollywood, he made guest appearances in several tv shows before landing the popular role of Lt. Harmon Rabb Jr. in 'JAG'. He is married to actress Nanci Chambers. The couple have one daughter, Stephanie.
